Looks like everyone's favourite hi-res three-letter word has made it to Astell&Kern's top-selling audiophile player. DSD playback is made possible by the latest firmware, version 1,30.

Astell&Kern AK120 Now With DSD Support!
As many of the Dual-DAC AK120 owners have been asking for, DSD (Direct Stream Digital) format support is finally here with the version 1.30 of Astell&Kern AK120system software that has been released today!
DSD64 (1bit/2.8MHz, Stereo), DSDIFF (.dff), and DSF (.dsf) formats are now supported. Enjoy high-resolution DSD audio format anywhere with the AK120 and the version 1.30 system software.
Not only does version 1.30 bring DSD format support, but several improvements and bugs have been added and addressed:
  • Optical DAC: Auto Power OFF & Sleep OFF functions are now disabled when an optical audio input is detected. 
  • Bluetooth: Audio playback cannot be stopped when headphones are disconnected while the AK120 is connected to a Bluetooth device.
  • Playback bug for specific files have been addressed.
