Map designers, Safari and Firehawk, released Cold War, a new 2-player Diplomacy variant open to VDiplomacy players. While VDiplomacy uses a similar back-end to Web Diplomacy, it features a richer selection of maps, and generally a better coded conduct policy. 

If you loved Diplomacy via post, or even in the dorm, VDiplomacy is a great venue to hone your skills of combat and backstabbing.
