The only current earphone review more encyclopedic than Brooko's review of the FLC8S is Just your random audio blog's review of Ocharaku's Akazakura Plus. It's harder to follow, and nowhere near as well shot, but it goes into terrible detail about the technology powering one of today's uniquest earphones from one of today's uniquest manufacturers.
And so, it's this "variations in technical ability" that I'll focus on more in this review rather than its sonic signature. It is noted that the Akazakura, and most likely its sibling, the Sakura, deviate from the typical signature quite greatly, defining them as a new generation of Flat4, something I honestly feel is a brilliant step in the right direction.
