Sennheiser introduced the HD700 in 2012. February 2013, this lovely headphones shows up on my desk. Its design is more laid back than the HD800's is, but quite space age still.
Comfort is a tad bit better as the 700 is slightly lighter. Both feature the same great removable 2,5mm cables and high quality polycarbonate bodies. Its price of 999,95$ USD is a sharp discount from the HD800's 1495,95$. Its wide, uncoloured midrange is excellent, matching most acoustic music perfectly.
At 150Ω and 105dB sensitivity, the HD700 achieves relatively loud volumes from very meagre players while retaining black background with almost every amp out there. Artefact-free extreme volumes are achievable via amps that can supply more than 5V. A USB DACPort is enough to bring this headphone's best out.
The HD700 images displayed at ohm image were taken for an audio magazine in Japan.
